Academy Villas Assisted Living Patios

Academy Villas Assisted Living Patios

A very special feature of the Langtry and Vivaldi Villas residences are their spacious and comfortable patios.  The patios provide spectacular views, and, in combination with the remarkable architecture and landscaping, create a tranquil and relaxing environment. The photos, above provide a glimpse of this feature.

The Vivaldi Patio

The first, third, fourth and sixth photos focus on the new Vivaldi Villa patio.  This patio features a large and sheltered seating area, a water feature, beautiful flowers in a trough designed to encourage gardeners, and a spectacular view of the Rincon Mountains. Individuals and groups of residents will find this a safe, fun, and comfortable place to sit and enjoy life. It is also a great place to take a guest. In fact, it may become a favorite place in the villas.

The last photo focusses on a private patio that is available for five of the rooms/suites.  A door from these rooms lead directly onto the patio.

Photos two and five were taken on the Langtry Villa patio. The architecture, landscaping and scenery has provided countless hours of pleasure for residents,  alone or socializing with others in the Langtry villas.

Tucson provides ideal weather for patio use, and the scenery of the Rincon Mountains and valley adds to the pleasure of being in the Academy Villas.

AZ Daily Star Article: AV Village and the Academy Villas

AZ Daily Star Article

The AZ Daily Star article on Academy Village/Altura and the Academy Villas is insightful and positive. In the article, a short history of the Villas was provided, and the importance of the Academy Villas to the Village and the neighborhood.  This is what was said about the Villas:

The Academy Villas Description

“As the Academy Village evolved, residents wanted a place where loved ones could get assisted living without having to leave the community”, said Gary Fenstermacher, president of the Academy Services Corp., and a resident.

The Services Corp. has three prongs:

  • A wellness center, offering support for those with acute or chronic conditions.
  • A home health program that gives assistance with daily activities for those residents who want to remain in their own homes.
  • Assisted living care for those no longer able to live independently.

The first villa, with 14 beds, was built with a $2.9 million donation from a group of original residents and opened in 2010.

“They wanted a place where people could age in place,” Fenstermacher said.

A second villa, with 16 beds, is being finished and was also partially funded by $1 million in donations from residents.

The services provided are open to anyone, not just those who live in the community.
